Happy news. An interview with J.J. Jackson, the WBCN announcer from the station's early days (and later an original MTV VJ) who passed away in 2004, has just surfaced and been shared with us for "The American Revolution." This is just a small snippet. He was a lovely and beloved presence in the early days of the radio station (his last day was the day before I started there in Nov. 1970) and while there is archival material of him from back in the day, this provides us with material of him to use in the film. - Bill Lichtenstein
After their initial four shows at My Father's Place in Roslyn, Long Island (Jan. 1 - 4 1976) the Patti Smith Group (Patti Smith, Lenny Kaye, Richard Sohl, Ivan Kral and Jay Dee Daugherty) played the Jazz Workshop in Boston, which was broadcast live on WBCN-FM, and included this then-newly released version of "Gloria."

They were waiting to be paid for the show Exploding Plastic Inevitable, for which they were engaging. Steve also photographed members of Velvet Specter Studios in New York, when they recorded their first album with Nico. |
