I had the great good fortune to be working at the Tea Party during this time. I started at the end of January that year during that first Led Zeppelin gig. Hard to match too... until this set of dates. Tommy was fresh and new... I thought the roof was going to blow off the place... and remember in my bones the intensity, the power and depth. This was one of those gigs that I think none of us there can ever forget... and as great as the band was and popular as they were to become, would really ever see or hear hear again in such a primal way either. Can't believe someone taped this!!!! The closest we can hear is in Wolfgangs Vault which has an incomplete 69 Fillmore East date that is great too.

Did this on a small reel to reel deck (Burgess ,05 mylar tape) and put the mic on the stage. Roger pointed it out to Pete and I assumed he was being a nice guy and didn't want Pete to jump on it by accident.

I remember Bobby Pridden!!! Were you able to capture the Amazing Journey/Sparks section? That was one spot where the real power was. Love to hear it sometime if you did! I also seem to remember Pete talking about Meher Baba the guru, something he rarely referenced I believe.

no biggie, but now I'm thinking we shared these audio spoils of war in my 62 Corvair. The Ford Falcon got us back and forth from Woodstock. Comments are closed.
